Here there is not Greek and Jew,
circumcision and uncircumcision,
barbarian, Scythian, slave, free;
but Christ is all and in all. (Colossians 3:10-11)
We spend way too much of our time comparing ourselves to others. Who is the most talented, the best looking, or the wealthiest? Who has the most possessions?
We do the same thing when we compare our beliefs and practices with those of other Christian denominations. We focus on what makes us different rather than celebrate what we hold in common. When we do that, we create a divide with “them” over there and “us” over here. The Body of Christ is fractured.
St. Paul calls us to concentrate on what unites us – Christ is all and in all.
The love of and for Christ unites us as one.
