For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that moment what you should say. (Luke 12:12)
We know we have an obligation to spread the Gospel message, but what does that look like? What does it sound like?
Maybe it is taking some time after Mass to discuss the readings with your children. Maybe it is sharing the readings of the day with homebound folks who cannot make it to Mass, and adding your own personal reflection. Maybe it is starting a scripture study at your parish, your place of work, or at your home with your friends. Maybe it means that the next time you are leading a meeting, you surprise everyone by starting with prayer. Maybe it is stepping in when you see a chance to teach a life lesson to a young person.
Today’s Gospel addresses the most common excuse for not doing all of these things: “I don’t know how” or “I wouldn’t know what to say.” Jesus calms our fears by assuring us we are not alone. If we make the effort, the Holy Spirit will provide the words.
