“But the wise shall shine brightly
like the splendor of the firmament,
and those who lead the many to justice
shall be like the stars forever.” (Daniel 12:1-3)
God took the form of man in order to be a living example of what it means to be a believer. Long before that, He sent the very same message to the prophets, who answered the call to spread the Word.
Today Daniel offers us the two step process to get to Heaven:
- Do what’s right (“the wise”)
- Help others do what’s right (“lead the many”)
Sound familiar? Jesus told us the two greatest commandments were to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Luke 10:27)
The continual problem Jesus encountered with the Pharisees is that they did not understand step two. They knew the Law. They were book smart on “what’s right.” However, they failed when it came to implementation. They thought they were the wise, but they failed to see that the true essence of the Law was our love and compassion for others.
Our job is to get to heaven, and to bring as many people with us as we can.
