Storming Heaven – Results!

July 17, 2016

Is anyone among you sick? …they should pray over him and the prayers of the faithful will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful. (James 5:14-16)

I shared with you two weeks ago the details of a horrific car accident involving five members of the recently graduated Class of 2016 from Bishop Chatard High School, where I serve as principal. All five boys were rushed to the hospital. Two (Patrick and Douglas) were treated and released that night, while three others began receiving critical care for life-threatening injuries.

Over 100 of their classmates came to the hospital that night, as well as dozens of parents from the school community. We joined hands and prayed together several times that night.

I posted on this blog and asked anyone who would listen to “storm heaven with prayers” for the boys. I received word from around the world that the storming was indeed taking place.

Result #1 – All three critically injured boys survived!

Two remain in intensive care and have undergone multiple surgeries for their countless injuries. Both are stable and progressing well. Lewis is being weaned off his dialysis machine. He has been fitted with a brace and is spending some time each day sitting up. He is eating and drinking real food and having conversations.

Timmy is progressing as well. He is resting this weekend before undergoing another surgery on Monday. He is responding to the commands of medical staff, and there are fewer tubes connected to him than before.

I have been honored to see the boys regularly, to check their progress, hold their hand, and pray for them or with them. I saw them the day after the accident – what they looked like then and what they look like now is nothing short of a miracle.

Result #2 – The third boy, Luca, was RELEASED from the hospital late Friday night! He is resting and will begin rehab from home very soon.

Your continued prayers have been answered. Please continue to storm heaven with prayers until all three boys are home with their families!

God bless you!
