Let Your “Yes” Mean “Yes”

February 13, 2017

Let your ‘Yes’ mean ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No’ mean ‘No.’ (Matthew 5:37)

I cannot think of any better advice than the words Jesus offered to his disciples in yesterday’s Gospel. I hope all parents have shared this same advice with their children.

When you follow this advice, you will be seen as a person who can be trusted, as a person whose “Yes” can be taken seriously. Your words, your integrity and reliability, define you.

When it comes to your faith, you have said “Yes” many times: Yes, I believe. Yes, I love God. Yes, I choose to serve Him and others.

Has your “Yes” translated into action? Can your “Yes” be taken seriously?
