I am in Nashville, TN today and tomorrow leading a retreat for the school principals of the Diocese of Nashville. The title of the retreat is Being a Sacramental People: God Needs Storytellers.
The retreat will focus on our responsibility to Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15). What does that look like?
The bottom line is that we do not need to be all-knowing theologians to proclaim the gospel. We simply need to share our experiences of God’s presence in our lives, let people hear about our “sacramental moments.”
Sacraments = visible signs of God’s invisible grace (undeserved gifts of divine influence)
Sacramental moments = our personal experiences of God’s presence; God reveals Himself to us
Sacramental people = those that reveal God to others. They are sowers, planting the seeds of faith in others.
To be counted among the sacramental people, we must tell our story. God needs storytellers!
Over the next two days, I’ll be encouraging the principals to be storytellers.
I’m encouraging you right now!
