Each day during Lent, I am highlighting a Lenten Word (or phrase) of the Day from the readings of the day. I encourage you to reflect on this word or phrase and incorporate it in your prayers today.
I will place my law within them, and write it upon their hearts; I will be their God, and they shall be my people. (Jeremiah 31:33-34)
WRITING ON OUR HEARTS: I love the image of God writing on our hearts. There is such an intimacy to it.
I picture God forming us in His own image, and just before breathing life into us, writing “Be Mine” or “Friends Forever” on our hearts.
God has claimed us as His own by writing on our hearts. He knows us inside and out and accepts us for who we are. All He asks in return is that we allow him access to our hearts, and that we save a place for him there.
A question to reflect upon during your prayer time: Have I given God access to my heart?
