Each day, I reflect upon a word or a phrase from the readings of the day. I encourage you to do the same and perhaps incorporate that word or phrase into your daily prayer.
As he looked on, he was surprised to see that the bush, though on fire, was not consumed.
So Moses decided, “I must go over to look at this remarkable sight, and see why the bush is not burned.”
When the LORD saw him coming over to look at it more closely, God called out to him from the bush, “Moses! Moses!” (Exodus 3:1-6)
GOD CALLED OUT: What exactly are we expecting as we “wait” to experience God’s presence in our lives? To see a burning bush, or a flash of light? To hear a voice from the clouds? These would all be really cool, but it is unlikely to happen that way for us.
God is much more likely to present Himself to us disguised as our spouse, our children, a friend, or even a passerby on the street. We are much more likely to experience Him in the breeze, in a whisper, or in the silence. He is right in the middle of all of the chaos and messiness of our lives.
As I have shared with high school seniors on retreat: “God is actually quite chatty. He is talking to us all the time. We simply need to open our hearts to hear Him.”
God is present in everyday events – in the simple, yet powerful moments He inspires. Embrace His presence!
