Each day, I reflect upon a word or a phrase inspired by the readings of the day. I encourage you to do the same and perhaps incorporate that word or phrase into your daily prayer.

“Apply the sickle, for the harvest is ripe…”  (Joel 4:12-21) and  “…blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.” (Luke 11:27-28)

NOW: We hear a consistent message in both readings for today. Simply put, we are being told, “The time to act is now.”

If ripe fruit is left unharvested, it will die on the vine. If the Word of God is left unheard or unspoken, or is not acted upon, it too will die.

We must act when the time is right, and that time is now – let’s get busy!
