Each day, I reflect upon a word or phrase from the readings of the day. I encourage you to do the same and perhaps incorporate that word or phrase into your daily prayer.
“Go and take your place in the temple area, and tell the people everything about this life.” (Acts 5:20)
TELL THE PEOPLE: It is our responsibility as disciples of Jesus Christ to share the Gospel in both word and deed. Our responsibility to share extends to everyone we meet, not just those with whom we are comfortable or those who are readily open to the Word of God. It includes strangers, the uninformed (present day Gentiles), and the disenfranchised. It includes those who willingly listen and accept God’s Word, and those who turn away from it.
Just as the Apostles discovered, some will reject our efforts. Those with closed minds and hearts will ignore us. We will discover others who are open, or at least curious. They will see us and listen to us. Some have simply been waiting for an invitation. There is nothing more effective then a personal, face-to-face invitation.
There will be times when no one sees or hears the message we are offering. Other times, many may respond to our invitation. Regardless of the success of our efforts, we are doing God’s work when we live out the Gospel.
